Tonight is the night. The Four Nations Face-Off will end with a final that many did predict. What they did not predict is the magnitude of the game at hand. Thanks to the threats of economic coercion and attacks against our sovereignty from he who shall remain nameless, this game tonight will effectively be our Game 8 in Moscow.
After a fiery game on the weekend, we should expect nothing less with so much more now being on the line. This is a game for Canada's dignity, and with the president of the United States confirming today that he will be watching, the motivation to attain victory will be at an all-time high. We have the players to do it, and we will do it.
Tonight, two teams full of future Hall Of Famers will face off in what will be one of hockey's seminal moments. For Team Canada, it is a chance to not only avenge an early defeat like in the 2010 Vancouver Games, but a chance to galvanize our nation the way our politicians cannot and will not. Tonight, number 87 is the prime minister, with his cabinet being led by 29 and 97. Tonight, it's about more than a gold medal. It's about the greatness of a nation.
As fans, we have a unique opportunity to experience the suspense and historical importance that our grandparents and parents did in 1972. We must enjoy this moment, but more importantly, use it to rally around the flag and rediscover the old pride in our nation. For tonight at least, we bleed red and white.
Go Canada Go!
